School uniform
As part of our continued commitment to promoting active, healthy lifestyles through our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) approach, we will be moving to an active school uniform from September 2025.
This exciting shift is in line with a growing national campaign encouraging schools to adopt uniforms that support movement and play throughout the day. You can read more about the research and thinking behind this initiative on the Youth Sport Trust website.
Active uniform allows children to wear plain black or navy shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms (no logos) all year round, paired with their usual school polo shirt and jumper or cardigan. This change means children are always ready for active play—whether it’s a spontaneous game at breaktime or a quick burst of movement to refocus in class.
Summer dresses, skirts and pinafores can still be worn—we would suggest that they are paired with shorts underneath to facilitate more confident and comfortable play.
Recommended footwear is plain black trainers for all pupils, rather than traditional school shoes. For many children, especailly girls, traditional school shoes can be impractical and oftern not supportive enough for active and all-weather play, trainers offer a far more practical and comfortable option for active days. While school shoes can still be worn by those who prefer them, we would encourage all children to wear trainers if possible.
Although not compulsory, parents may purchase a selection of branded school items showing the school logo. These can be bought directly from our uniform provider Price & Buckland. Full details can be found by accessing their website at https://price-buckland.co.uk/
Alternatively, the school has a range of pre-loved uniform which can be purchased directly from school at a cost of 50p per item. Please contact the school office for more information.
PE KIT
From Year 1 to Year 6, children will come into school in their PE kit for their PE day.
After your child has started school, they will be allocated to a house and then should wear a house colour t-shirt. These can be purchased from school at a cost of £2.00.
Children need to wear trainers for PE.
CAPS AND HATS
Plain knitted hats can be worn in cold weather. Navy baseball caps, sun hats and legionnaire style caps can be worn in warm weather. All headwear must be removed when in school.
We ask that all items of clothing and footwear carry your child’s name in permanent marker or name stickers.
READING BAGS
To underline our belief in the importance of regular reading practice at home, we have a blue reading book bag with the school logo. Your child will be given their first bag when they start school. Further supplies can be purchased directly from our suppliers using the above link.
Stickins name stickers can be purchased directly from https://www.stikins.co.uk/name-labels/ school get a 30% commission if you use the code: 15819
